This takes me back to the good old days!! I miss them and I can recall life was so much easier. One thing that hasn’t changed over the years is the adorable Steve Perry
@VeriSheri yeah i noticed that in the lovn touchin squeezin video…and i heard the beginning of this one and i was like ‘that sounds EXACTLY like the cd!’ but nonetheless, they’re still good
Genesis played live on Midnight Special in 1974 with “Watcher of the Skies” and “The Musical Box”. The first time that Genesis appeared on US TV. Then they appeared on The Mike Douglas Show miming two songs in 1977 when Phil Collins was singing for Peter Gabriel.
@VeriSheri
Not true that all lip synched.on Midnight special….check out Sanford Townsend Band, “Smoke from a Distant Fire”..Not lip synched and the guys sings amazingly..
And where exactly might I find this John Mellencamp’s performance of “I Need a Lover” on American Bandstand? I’d love to see him being forced to lip synch. I bet it nearly killed him.
For the ultimate in that kind of thing, check out John Mellencamp’s performance of “I Need a Lover” on American Bandstand. They forced him to lip synch, so they “played” absurd instruments like accordions and the drummer kept hitting drums that weren’t there. The best part was the “you’re sh**ting me” look when Dick Clark asked him about the unorthodox instruments.
Good grief, I had the same outfit as Steve in this one! The wide leg white jeans, the red and white striped shirt with “muscle sleeves!” Though he wore it better than me!
He definately was lip syncing on both songs, why? Check out Roadrunner from this show too, it’s sung live and he sounds fine to me. Chick……..that’s funny.

Personally, I don’t care….I was simply replying to another person.
who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They were trying not to crack up with all that lip synching going on.
YES, IT WAS LIP SYNCHED…They all did on this show.
sometimes on some music shows they made you lipsync. Some bands like No Doubt and Nirvana had members switch places and had fun with it
